Discovery
Launched in 2019, right on time for Black Friday, Brim Rewards started by featuring two types of offers: automatic earn inCard and direct link eShop.
The first step was to research how other competitors and platforms that offer rewards programs utilize the filtering and search functionalities. The market selection for research was not limited to direct competitors; we also investigated how well-known references with many portfolio options, such as Airbnb accommodations, and how the interface differs from web responsive to native apps.
inCard
1) First-time bonus
2) Milestone bonus
3) Level by Visit
4) Level by Total spent
5) Earn on all purchases

eShop
1) Base earn (%)
2) Bonus points (+)

Process
After auditioning the types of offers and grouping them accordingly as filtering and searching options, the next step was to map where – inside the Brim Rewards page – these actions would be placed and how they would function.
Scenarios
After observing the constrains and limitation of placing the filtering and the search inside each section of the pages from the previous flowchart, this time we created all the scenarios that the user would be able to reach the filter/search from the Rewards home page. This step is important to check if everything is properly connected.
Low-fi wireframes
The areas in yellow are the filter and search components to be incorporated into the Rewards page.
Interactive states
The design of the interface displayed here is from the first phase of the project and still requires some refining. Nevertheless, on the right we can visualize some of the interaction states applied to the filtering buttons, dropdown menus and the behaviour of the search bar.
Mobile apps
For the first phase of this project, the app interface would present limited functionalities in terms of filtering options as compared to the web Portal.
Below are some screens of how the filtering and the search features are presented and their functionality level.
Test and validation
For this feature project, we ran a quick validation on the interface and functionality. We mainly tested internally with Brim employees from other departments. This project was also tested externally by selecting people who either bank online and/or usually use offers from other rewards platforms.
